I finally went to the doctor for my foot yesterday. I have to stay off of my feet for 2-3 weeks. The funny thing is, my Doctor also homeschooled his kids (they are all grown now) so he just kind of chuckled when he said it.
If it isn't better by the time I am allowed to use it again, I have to go to a podiatrist.
What suks is that I have been doing 60 minutes of cardio everyday and I am not going to be able to. The Doctor and I thought of a few things - stationary bike and swimming - and I am planning to still do Turbo Jam from a chair. I asked around on SparkPeople and got some great suggestions. Did you know that pilates was developed for bed ridden people? Neither did I. I have been interested in pilates for a while, but I am not sure this is the time to try to start. They also suggested some websites and tv shows that have workouts for people to do sitting in chairs or even lying in bed.
I got the insoles the Doctor told me to get and so far they have made a huge difference. Between the insoles and advil, I might be able to get in 20 minutes of Turbo Jam and then do some of the things people suggested.
Mushy cheesy post alert -
I know that this isn't a race, and if I have to take it easy for a couple of weeks and it slows down my progress, that is ok. In the long run, I would rather have to spend an extra month reaching my goal weight than spend an extra 6 months because I pushed myself and injured myself even worse.
I am determined to not let this injury sidetrack me. I am going to have to work twice as hard, I think, but if that is what I have to do, that is what I will do.
And there you have it.
Have a great day, everyone!
